Austin Freeman’s brilliant forensic expert Dr. John Thorndyke to Arthur Morrison’s notorious villain, private inquiry agent Horace Dorrington, William Hope Hodgson’s world-famous ghost hunter Carnacki and Baroness Orczy’s detective Lady Molly of Scotland Yard.

The R.M.S Oceanic is attempting the fastest-ever transatlantic crossing. In the ship’s specie room (the strong room at the bottom of the ship’s hold), there is a valuable consignment of gold bullion.
