Why the Joy of Bright Colors?

A message from Paris Baker, Family and Early Childhood Manager at the Clyfford Still Museum:

Young children have historically been such an underrepresented population in museums and Art Crawl exists to offer infants and caregivers an opportunity to share in those early learning experiences together. We strive to highlight the joy and learning that this program brings to all of the people that we work with and interact with as a means of advocacy for this population and to continue to center infants as an important part of our museum culture and community.

We understand those moments of difficulty. They seem to arise when we're doing the work that we deeply care about - advocating for children. Their experiences, their environments, their relationships; it is so multifaceted and can become overwhelming in moments. A lot of the difficulties we face are in constantly trying to undo the narrative that infants and young children don't belong in art museums. We continuously strive to set CSM up as a resource for families, a place for learning and exploration, and a space where infants and young children feel like they belong. We want them and their full human expressions in our galleries.
