Alec Berg
Alec Berg is a journalist at Rocky Mountain PBS. Alec’s coverage spans broadly, but has focused heavily on homelessness, LGBTQ+ issues and the housing crises in high-country mountain towns.
Alec’s coverage of homelessness in Colorado Springs has garnered statewide and national attention, as well as brought about change in Colorado’s second-largest city.
Alec grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from Utah State University, where they worked as the editor-in-chief of their college newspaper and completed internships at four Pulitzer Prize-winning newspapers: The Salt Lake Tribune, Deseret News, East Bay Times and Chronicle of Higher Education. Alec started their full-time journalism career covering city government, housing and the ski industry for the Steamboat Pilot & Today in Steamboat Springs, Colorado’s greatest mountain town. Alec enjoys covering topics that shed light on important issues and bring about change.
