Friends and family remember Gordon Beesley, Johnny Hurley on anniversary of Olde Town shooting

A solemn air filled Olde Town Square on June 21, as friends and family members of Gordon Beesley and Johnny Hurley gathered on the one-year anniversary of the Olde Town shooting to remember the victims of the tragedy.

Flowers and chalk-written messages were set up for both victims, as mourners grieved and paid tribute to Beesley and Hurley. Brent Kaufman, a friend of Hurley’s said a few words to the assembled crowd of about 100 people and led a moment of silence for Beesley at 1:35 p.m. — the time of his death — and a moment of silence at 1:37 p.m., the time of Hurley’s death.

The Shrine of St. Anne’s Catholic Church rang their bells at 1:37 p.m. in honor of the victims. Family members of Hurley gathered at the spot he was shot for a somber moment of reflection.
